NOTE FROM THE PASTOR
October 23, 2019
My curiosity got the best of me, so I looked back to see what attendance has been for Homecoming the past three years since I came – 157, 159, 142. We can do better than that; I am thinking 200. Let’s shoot for this together. Can we count on YOU to be here for Homecoming Day, November 3? Who can you invite today?
HOMECOMING 2019 – I am excited about Homecoming on November 3. And I want you to get excited with me. If you have ever been part of Pickens View, would you worship with us that day at 10:30 am? There is a special Homecoming choir that will practice Sunday afternoon at 4 pm. The Children’s Bell Choir will perform on Homecoming Day too. While you are here, you will have the opportunity to greet former pastors Foster Gentry and Lewis/Nancy Edwards. Bring a well-filled basket of food to share with friends in Heritage Hall afterwards. It will be a great time.
MISSIONS REMINDER AND UPDATE – Last night our Missions Team met and was able to make the decision to add two Wesleyan Missionary couples and one church plant to those we already support. That makes six SC Wesleyan church plants and eight Wesleyan Missionary families. Your generous Faith Promise giving makes it all possible. Our new missionaries are Bob and Brenda Bagley in Africa and Windel and Yolie Etienne, missionaries from Haiti working under the administration of the Wesleyan Church in Ghana. Rick and Clara West just retired after 45 years of faithful service.
NEED TO BE BAPTIZED? CALL (863)651-1205 and talk to Pastor Mark.
CHANGED DATE FOR CHRISTMAS DECORATING DAY AT PICKENS VIEW – Tuesday, November 18
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD BOXES – OCC is a unique project that takes gift-filled shoe boxes to children in need in over 150 countries around the world. The mission of OCC is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Join the 22 families of Pickens View who have already committed 50 boxes and let’s make it happen. We can easily do 100. Sign up Sunday. Bring them back ready to go November 17.
YOUTH DAY AT PICKENS VIEW – Sunday, November 24
LOVED IT – Last Sunday was a memorable one for me. For a long time now, our youth group has been growing but many of the kids do not attend our Sunday service. Sunday morning most came and filled up about four rows down at the front of the church. And we had one of the largest attendance days we have had since I arrived almost four years ago. It was great to see attendance shoot up, but much greater to see those teens and sponsors in service. Thank you all. I am excited about what God is doing in our youth group.
