This year’s Live Nativity was a hit!  There were so many “travelers to Bethlehem” that told Meredith that they had never come before or that they had passed by year after year and never went, but this year… They made the effort to go.  We had people come as far as INMAN, SC!  A total of 3259 people came to the Live Nativity this year and a total of $4341.96 was donated to the Feed a Hungry Child of Pickens Ministry.  WOW!  

Don’t forget to pick up your Christmas cards from the mailbox that is located in the front of the church!  If you still plan to give Christmas cards, this will be the last week for you to bring them to be distributed.

DISCIPLESHIP IN THE NEW YEAR

We will return to our normal Sunday morning schedule on Sunday, January 4th with Discipleship Hour at 9:30 AM and Worship at 10:30 AM.  If you have not joined a Discipleship Class, consider joining one as your New Year’s resolution!  It’s a great place to get to know your fellow PVWC family members and go deeper into God’s Word.  

There will be two new Discipleship Classes offered starting January 4th.  

The Home Team Class, which meets in Room 201, is starting a new family study called Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles that can radically change your family.  In this study you will explore 14 practical and gospel-centered principles that will help parents see their role through the lens of God’s Word and change the way they interact with their children. Principles include grace, identity, lies, authority, foolishness, and character.

The View Crew Class, which meets in the Fellowship Hall, will be starting the Bible Recap.  This study will spark meaningful conversations and follows the same chronological reading plan as the acclaimed The Bible Recap podcast and book.  This study will lead you to a deeper understanding of the Bible’s narrative and how God’s character is revealed throughout Scripture.  

This year’s March to the Manger projects are two new projectors for the sanctuary and a multi-purpose, covered, outdoor structure.  

The two projectors in the sanctuary will soon become outdated technology and will be more expensive to upkeep or not work at all.  With that, we are needing to replace them this year.  The newer projectors will be laser lights instead of bulbs and will provide a sharper, longer lasting image for our congregation to enjoy.

The multi-purpose structure will be very useful during the Live Nativity to house animals but it will also offer additional place for small groups, discipleship classes, etc. to enjoy time together over a meal, or around a campfire, or movie night.  The options are endless!

Our Grief Group will be taking a short break during the month of December.  When it returns on January 6th, the group will pick up where they left off.  

Life After Loss Grief Support Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month.  It is a 6-week course that continually cycles over and over, so you can join at any time. It can be tough with the holidays.  Join a safe, loving, and encouraging group of folks who are walking this same journey called grief.  If you would like to know more about our Grief Group, please email the church office at pickensviewwesleyan@gmail.com or call 864-878-2324.  

PVWC’s Prayer Gathering happens on the 2nd Saturday of every month at 9 AM in Room 201.  Our next gathering will be January 10th.  All are welcome!  If you plan to join, please enter through the glass door that is to the right of the church building, under the covered carport area.

Week night activities will start back up after the Christmas and New Year holidays.  Enjoy the break and we will see you all, with bells on, on January 7th and 8th!
