Update on the Back 2 School Backpacks Outreach
A total of 60 children and teenagers were able to receive a Back 2 School backpack, complete with all the supplies they needed to start school off on the right foot. Seeing the weight lifted from some parents’ faces and the smiles from ear to ear on some of the children was super meaningful. This year, we added an option where parents could contribute $5 per received backpack. These monies helped provide 1 complete backpack to someone else who might not have had the opportunity to receive one. 

Update on Stock the Shelves Outreach
In response to your generosity, we were able to help keep food on the shelves this Summer at United Christian Ministries. A total of 535 items were donated throughout June and July. That equates to just over $1,000 of groceries donated and just under 600 pounds of total food donated! Way to love on your community through this simple act of kindness and generosity! 

We are excited to announce the births of three precious little ones who came over the summer!  What a joy to see growth in the lives of our PVWC family!  Before we know it they will be playing alongside each other in Children’s Church! 

Over the past few Centershot Archery Ministry seasons, we have had around 60 kids participate!  It’s a great ministry!  If your kids are interested in learning Archery and are in 2nd grade or up, there is still time to sign them up!  We still have 15 spots left as of today!  To register or to find out more about our Centershot Archery Ministry, please go to https://pickensviewchurch.com/archery/ or call the church at 864-878-2324.

We have missed Pastor Paul (and Buddy) around the church!  We are looking forward to welcoming him back!  He will be back in the office on September 2nd and will be preaching on September 7th! 

Please remember that our office will be closed for Labor Day on Friday, August 29th and September 1st.  We hope you all have a wonderful holiday with your family!

Every Sunday morning from 9:30 AM – 10:15 AM, we offer a handful of wonderful Bible studies for you to get plugged into.  If you haven’t been joining us during our Discipleship Hour or you are looking for a bible Study on Sunday mornings, we have something for everyone!  Childcare and classes for ages 2 and up are always available.  To learn more, please go to our website at https://pickensviewchurch.com/small-group-ministry/.
 

BYF (Best Year’s Fellowship) is such a great way to fellowship with your fellow 55+ PVWC family members!  Last week we met at Silver Bay, and our new Wesleyan District Superintendent (DS) and wife, Richard and Amanda Hill, joined us.  For those who couldn’t make it, you missed a great time!  If you are 55+ and older, plan to join us at Mama Penn’s in Anderson in September.  I’ve never been, but I hear they have great food!  

Baptism Sunday is one of my favorite services!  Mark your calendars and plan to attend so you can cheer on each new family in Christ and celebrate what God has done!  If you are interested in being baptized, please reach out to Pastor Barry or Pastor Carlos (Kids/Youth) by September 7th!

Did you know that SWU has a hidden gem within the Fine Arts Department!  The talent within the student body, alumni, and community seem to always amaze me!  You can never go wrong attending one of their many concerts and productions throughout the year!  Both Joe Howlett and Meredith Gaskin will be performing with their Fine Arts Department in the upcoming weeks.  

Joe Howlett – Trumpet Player
On September 23rd @ 7:30 PM, Joe will be performing with the SWU Orchestra during the Music Department Showcase concert.  Throughout the evening you will also hear performances from the SWU Jazz Band, SWU Choir, The University Singers, and possibly the newly formed “SWUGrass” band.  You won’t want to miss it!

Meredith Gaskin – Singing and Dancing
On October 2nd and 3rd @ 7PM, is the next Showstopper Spectacular.  This year’s theme, Jukebox Junction, will feature singing and dancing numbers from the 1950s and 1960s.  Plan to come with your Discipleship Class, Small Group, or BYF! It is going to be a fun night with the best oldies and goodies!
